IELTS Course Overview

IELTS is an international standardized test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Ltd, and was established in 1989. It tests the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills in English of candidates all over the world and acts as a proof of English Proficiency for non-native speaker.

You may be aware that you need to get a specific IELTS score in order to pursue your employment or school goals, and you may be working toward that objective by preparing for the exam. But, have you considered some of the additional benefits of studying even more for the IELTS Academic test in order to boost your results.

It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9). It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.

There are two types of IELTS test: Academic and General Training. Listening and Speaking are the same for the both tests; however the topic of the Reading and Writing sections differs relying upon which test the candidate takes. IELTS can be taken either on paper or computer depending on the choice of the test taker. The test score is valid for two years from the test date.
